The Bittinger Team with RE/MAX Classic in Canton, Michigan is proudly an official drop-off location for "Cell Phones for Soldiers"! 

 We are located at: 6512 N. Canton Center Road; just north of Hanford on the right. Our convienent 24/7 drop box is near the front door so that cell phones may be dropped into at any time. 

 

As of September 17, 2008 RE/MAX Classic in Canton, Michigan has raised over $91,096 towards calling cards for our troops by collecting used cell phones. This huge effort is a part of the nationally-based organization “Cell Phones for Soldiers”. You, too, can help our troops call their loved ones by donating your used cell phone to our local drop-off location!

Here is how this program works: All of the phones collected are sent to a company called "ReCellular" . The money ReCellular receives from recycling cell phones is used to purchase calling cards that they send to troops in need. Each phone donated and recycled supplies enough money to pay for an hour of talk time each!

"Cell Phones for Soldiers" hopes to turn old cell phones into more than 12 million minutes of prepaid calling cards for U.S. troops stationed overseas in 2008. To do so, "Cell Phones for Soldiers" expects to collect 15,000 cell phones each month through a network of more than 3,000 collection sites across the country. Every year Americans replace over 129 million cell phones. If you think about it, how many old cell phones do you have buried in the back of a closet or drawer? It may be hard to imaging that doing something so small could have such a tremendous impact on someones life, but it does. And not to worry, your personal data on the phones can easily be erased online as well, before donating them.

Does your soldier need a calling card?  Personal information, including the address of a soldier’s location, cannot be released to anyone by the military. So this means that it is essential to fill out the card online so that "Cell Phones for Soldiers" can locate your soldier, and get them a card!

We want take a moment to also give a huge "Thank You" to each and every one of you that has donated their used cell phones to this much needed and appreciated program. In the coming months we hope to double the amount of earned calling cards for our troops… but we can only do this with your help!
